Monday was Preview Day for the Birmingham Extension Center.
We were privileged to have Dr. Chuck Kelley, NOBTS President, join us and challenge us during our morning Chapel. Dr. Kelley noted that the only way to share the Gospel with others is by life to life, person to person. Yet many times we, as believers, want to delegate that job to someone who is “gifted” in evangelism. Dr. Kelley pointed out that the first “Coward for Christ” was the Apostle Paul who shared his message with “fear and trembling” (1 Corinthians 2:3-5). Paul’s fears did not keep him from proclaiming “Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). Dr. Kelley offered the following observation about Paul…and us….
“Boldness is not the absence of fear…it is the presence of obedience.”
He reminded us that when we speak of Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins working. Our job is to flex our “witnessing muscle” and speak out of obedience. The Lord will do the work!
